[GIII] DRAGON STAR

Gulfstream III, c/n 438 was registered to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in October 1984 as N302GA and delivered from GAC to Dun & Bradstreet Corporation in 1985. After flying for the Carolina Hurricanes NHL Hockey team from 2003 untill 2006 the aircraft was bought by GS438 LLC in 2007. On 12 November 2008 (registered 18 November) Lockheed Martin Corporation acquired the aircraft (N473KT) and modified it into the Airborne Multi-intelligence Laboratory (AML), ''Dragon Star'' testbed during the first half of 2009 (the aircraft was registered as N30LX on 23 March 2009). As such it made its maiden flight August 2009. The aircraft was converted to test combinations of sensors, processors and data links that can speed the delivery of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) data directly to individual soldiers. After the FAA approval of the modifications in August 2009 c/n 438 was displayed at the Dubai Airshow 2009, the Aeroexpo, Morocco 2010, the Farnborough Air Show, Fairford Royal International Tattoo 2010, Avalon Australian International Airshow 2011 and Luke AFB 2011. In 2011 the aircraft was operated by the Italian Air Force from Practica di Mare under a leasing contract with Lockheed Martin. In November 2018 c/n 438 was noted with Norm Hill at California City (CA) but departed to Goodyear (AZ) again.
